The College of Public Health Medicine is pleased to announce the inaugural Malaysian Public Health Leadership Lecture Series 2026, themed “From Programmes to Partnerships: Rethinking Public Health Leadership”.

In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, public health leadership extends far beyond programme management and technical expertise. Public health professionals today are expected to navigate complex systems, foster strategic partnerships, mobilise communities, influence policy, and address societal challenges that transcend the healthcare sector alone.

This inaugural lecture will feature Anita Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan MySDG, who will share insights and reflections on leadership, sustainable development, multisectoral collaboration, and the evolving role of public health leadership in advancing population well-being and societal impact.

Anita Ahmad brings over 20 years of experience in the non-profit and humanitarian sectors. Prior to joining Yayasan MySDG, she served as Head of Community Development and Humanitarian Disaster Response at Hasanah Foundation, the foundation of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, where she led initiatives focused on socio-economic development, humanitarian response, capacity building, and multi-stakeholder partnerships. Her professional experience also includes roles with the United Nations Development Programme and MERCY Malaysia, with involvement in humanitarian and internally displaced persons (IDP) projects in countries including Sudan and Afghanistan. A recipient of the Eisenhower Fellowship and John S. Wolf Fellowship, Anita has actively championed gender equality, indigenous rights, and disability inclusion through cross-sector collaboration. She holds a master’s degree in social development as a Chevening Scholar and a bachelor’s degree in law from the United Kingdom.

The Malaysian Public Health Leadership Lecture Series aims to stimulate critical reflection and dialogue on how Public Health Medicine Specialists can lead beyond institutional boundaries and contribute meaningfully to whole-of-society solutions in addressing contemporary and emerging public health challenges.

This inaugural series reflects the College’s commitment to strengthening leadership capacity, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and shaping a more resilient and inclusive public health future.
