About the Basic Public Health Medicine Test
The Basic Public Health Medicine test (BPHMT) is organised by the College of Public Health Medicine - Academy of Medicine Malaysia (CPHM-AMM) in collaboration with the Public Health Medicine Conjoint Board.
The University of Malaya only provides the venue and evaluation facilities for the BPHMT.

Only registered candidates will be allowed to sit for the BPHMT.
Registration for the BPHMT is only available online through the registration webpage.
Registration for the BPHMT closes at 11.59 pm on 10 September 2019.
The registration fee is RM350.00, which need to be deposited into the CPHM-AMM Maybank account - College of Public Health Medicine - Acc No:514123134872. Please use your Identity Card number as the reference when submitting the deposit.
All registered candidates sitting for the BPHMT must bring along a printed copy of their letter of confirmation for the BPHMT along with their Identity Card to the registration counter in the Main Examination Hall, University of Malaya.
The registration counter will open from 08.30-09.30 am on the day of the test, any candidate coming after 09.30 am will not be allowed to sit for the test.
The BPHMT is only one of the requirements for the application for Cuti Belajar Bergaji Penuh (CBBP) and Hadiah Latihan Persekutuan (HLP) for the Master of Public Health-Doctor of Public Health (MPH-DrPH) programme for the intake year 2020.
Successfully completing the BPHMT does not automatically entitle the candidate to be eligible for the CBBP+HLP. The candidate needs to complete the other requirements as set by the Ministry of Health.
Outline of the Basic Public Health Medicine Test
The BPHMT consists of 50 questions and candidates are required to answer all the 50 questions.
Each question will have five (5) items. The test comprises a total of 250 items.
For each item, answer True or False based on your understanding of the statement.
Marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer, however, the minimum marks for each question is zero (0).
The total marks for the test is 250.
The duration of the test is 120 minutes.
Scope of the Basic Public Health Medicine Test
This BPHMT will cover the five (5) major disciplines of Public Health: Epidemiology; Health, Policy and Management, Occupational and Environmental Health; Family Health; and Biostatistics.
The minimum level of knowledge required for the BPHMT is equivalent to the public health syllabus taught at the undergraduate medical programme in Malaysia.
Reference textbook should be the recommended textbook at any of the Malaysian universities.
Validity of Public Health Medicine Test
Ministry of Health Malaysia will consider the performance in the 2019 BPHMT for assessment of CBBP+HLP application for Master of Public Health-Doctor of Public Health (MPH-DrPH) programme for the intake year 2020.
The results of the 2019 BPHMT are recognised by the Ministry of Health (MOH) for the CBBP+HLP application for the MPH-DrPH programme intake up to the year 2022.
Candidates who are not satisfied with their performance in the 2019 BPHMT can attempt the MEDEX Exam for their CBBP+HLP application for MPH-DrPH programme intake for the year 2021 onwards.

All interested applicants must register online and make the payment by 11.59 pm on 10 September 2019.
Payment must be made before completing the online registration.
